2022-2023 Workshops

The Moving Classroom- Kris Olson

In this workshop, we’ll discover ways to use movement to strengthen musical skills and create avenues for creativity and growth. For our youngest students we’ll explore age-appropriate activities that utilize adapted folk dance, fanciful finger plays, and the world of pretend. For our older students, we’ll explore how limiting choices and developing clear structures can benefit the creative process. Most importantly we’ll experience the beautiful connection of music to movement and the vitality it can add to our teaching.

Popular Music and Orff Schulwerk- Martina Vasil

Have you ever wondered how to bring the music your students prefer into the classroom? In this workshop, you will learn many ways to integrate popular music and movement into your classroom through the Schulwerk. You will also learn how to create your own materials that make authentic connections with your students and help them learn.

Orff in the Urban Classroom- Thomas Pierre

Every learner has creative potential. Through singing, saying, moving, playing, and creating, participants will experience ways of tapping into the creative potential of learners in the urban classroom to provide meaningful musical experiences that are multicultural, arts integrated and address varied learning modalities.
