Scholarship and Grant Information

The Greater Cincinnati Chapter of the American Orff Schulwerk Association is dedicated to providing opportunities to assist our teachers.  We provide scholarship funds for AOSA National Conference and for Teacher Education as well as an Instrument/Equipment grant.  Please click on the links below if you are interested in applying.   Please contact our scholarship chair at GCCAOSAscholarships@gmail.com with any questions.    

GCCAOSA Instrument/Equipment Grant

The Greater Cincinnati AOSA Assistance Fund provides financial aid to support teachers in outfitting their classrooms with instruments and equipment that will enhance their teaching of Orff Schulwerk.  The application deadline is April 1. 

  • The scholarship will award one individual with $1,000 which must be used for the purchase of instruments or equipment to be used in the teacher’s primary classroom by their students.
  • The applicant must be a current member in good standing of AOSA and the Greater Cincinnati chapter.

AOSA Professional Development Conference

The Greater Cincinnati AOSA Assistance Fund provides financial aid to persons who are interested in furthering the growth of Orff Schulwerk.  These persons must need financial aid to further their education in Orff Schulwerk.  The application deadline is August 15. 

  • The funds must be used to cover the cost of registration at AOSA Professional Development Conference
  • The applicant must show personal financial need.
  • In addition, $500 of other expenses (housing, travel, food) will also be covered.
  • The applicant must be a current member, in good standing, of AOSA and the Greater Cincinnati chapter.

GCCAOSA Teacher Education Scholarship

The Greater Cincinnati AOSA Assistance Fund provides financial aid to persons who are interested in furthering the growth of Orff Schulwerk.  These persons must need financial aid to further their education in Orff Schulwerk.  Applications are due January 31st.

  • The funds must be used for training at an AOSA approved Teacher Education Course.
  • The applicant must show personal financial need.
  • The applicant must be a current member, in good standing, of AOSA and the Greater Cincinnati chapter.

Jenni Koenemann Memorial Scholarship

The Greater Cincinnati AOSA Jenni Koenemann Memorial Scholarship provides financial aid to persons who are interested in furthering the growth of Orff Schulwerk by taking their Level I Teacher Education Course.  Applications are due no later than January 31st.

  • The funds must be used for training at an AOSA approved Teacher Education Course.
  • The applicant must show personal financial need.
  • The applicant must be a current member, in good standing, of AOSA and the Greater Cincinnati chapter.

Background:

The Greater Cincinnati AOSA Jenni Koenemann Memorial Scholarship was established by the Greater Cincinnati AOSA Chapter to offer financial assistance to members of the chapter who wish to further their education related to the Schulwerk in memory of chapter member Jenni Koenemann.  It is reserved for uses and benefits associated with Orff Schulwerk and will be awarded to an educator who demonstrates Jenni’s passion for sharing it wholeheartedly with others.  This scholarship will award one individual with $750 to cover the cost of a Level I Orff Schulwerk Teacher Education Course at an AOSA approved institution of their choice.

GCCAOSA Assistance Fund – National Membership Dues

The Greater Cincinnati AOSA Chapter will award a one year national AOSA membership to up to two qualified music educators who express a desire to more fully integrate into the chapter but are unable to do so financially. While preference will go to teachers in their first five years of teaching, all local chapter members we welcome to apply.  If awarded the scholarship, applicants agree to join the local Greater Cincinnati AOSA chapter as well as attend the workshops for the school year awarded.  Applicants may only be awarded the scholarship once every three years.  The application deadline is August 15.
