February 4, 2012 - Rob Amchin (Louisville, KY) – Process Party – The Process Party will celebrate the magic of improvisational teaching techniques using elemental music and movement concepts. In addition to learning materials to bring back to your classrooms, the session will reflect on the process of how to present, explore, develop and extend musical experiences using Orff pedagogic ideas. The Process Party will celebrate reflection and exploring new ideas in planning your lessons for whole year! Bring a hand drum, recorder and your dancing feet.

March 3, 2012 - Joyce Stephansky (Alexandria, VA) – Everyday Orff – Explore the Orff Schulwerk media of speech, singing, movement, instrument playing, and listening using many Orff and Keetman elemental models and children’s literature. Ideas presented will replicate a typical day in an Orff Schulwerk music class and will be differentiated for the new teacher and for veterans. Please bring a soprano recorder and a copy of Orff/Keetman’s Music for Children Volume I (Murray edition).

September 22, 2012 – James Harding (San Francisco, CA) – Elemental Adventures – An Orff-Schulwerk classroom is a place of discovery, where children learn through active play with the elements of music and movement. In this workshop we will enter the world of rhythm, pitch, tempo, dynamic, timbre, and form through the doorways of rhythmic speech, songs, games, dances, creative movement and play with simple props.

October 20, 2012 – Arvida Steen/Jay Broeker (Minneapolis, MN) – Framing Teaching for Orff Teachers: Tools To Organize Your Lessons Part I – This workshop taken along with the March, Part II and additional small group meeting times is available for one graduate credit hour through Miami University. It will also be valuable as a self-contained Saturday workshop.
