Michael Chandler: Putting It All Together: Orff Schulwerk Throughout the K-5 Music Curriculum

2014-07-26 09.01.03 am Michael Chandler lives in Dallas and is the K-5 music specialist at Valley Ridge Elementary in Lewisville, where he was named “Teacher of the Year” in 2011. At Valley Ridge Elementary, Michael directs the Valley Ridge Singers and the 5th Grade Orff Schulwerk ensemble, Jagspiel. Michael has taught in AOSA-approved Orff Schulwerk certification courses in four states. In 2005, 2007, and 2013 his students performed as featured elementary ensembles at the TMEA Clinic/ Convention in San Antonio. He has served as president of the North Texas Chapter of AOSA and as a Regional Representative on the AOSA National Board of Trustees. Michael presents workshops and sessions at the local, state, and national levelincluding sessions at AOSA, TMEA, and the Texas Choral Directors Association (TCDA). He is an accompanist for the Children’s Chorus of Greater Dallas, the pianist at Round Grove United Church (UCC) in Lewisville, and is an active accompanist for solo/ensemble contests and choral festivals.

Amy Fenton : Recorder Play, Every Day!  

2014-07-26 09.01.14 amCreative ways to Incorporate Recorder in the OS Classroom.  Participants will experience playful skill building lessons for recorder utilizing games, stories, improvisation and composition.  Please bring a soprano recorder.  If you have an alto or a tenor, bring those along, too. Amy Fenton teaches grades K-5 at Wilkshire Early Childhood Center and Murphy Elementary in Haslett, Michigan. She is a recorder teacher for AOSA Teacher Education courses. Amy currently serves on the AOSA National Board of Trustees as Treasurer.

LuAnn Hayes: Purposeful Play: Creative Learning for Preschool and Primary-Level Music  Makers

 LuAnn Hayes is a certified Orff Schulwerk and Musikgarten teacher. She teaches early childhood music at Kentucky Country Day School where she received the endowed chair for distinguished teaching in 2003. She is past president of the Kentucky Orff Schulwerk Association and served on the 2006-07 AOSA Executive Director Search Committee.
